October 19th Class V Science

Teaching Class V Science, Topic: Making Music

                                                    Correction of Children's Work.

The Academic Year 2020 is really a challenging year for the teachers, COVID 19 pandemic really gave us the lesson and enhanced our IT knowledge, first of all we teachers and the students has learnt a lot about the online classes, we didn’t know about Google classroom and other apps before the pandemic but now we can use so many apps and social medias to teach children through it, even our children has become expert in using electronic devices and doing online classes, online classes not only saves time but it saves our energy too. It is easy and fast, children are able to learn through online classes.

ICT based teaching and learning is one of the most important aspects of teaching-learning process particularly in this era of fast and technically advancing technology. Teaching and learning without the use of ICT can be very redundant since it’s the need of the generation. The learners will become inactive and un-participatory without the integration of ICT in the lessons apart from many more. ICT can improve the quality of human life both in teaching learning and education. Use of ICT in education adds value in teaching and learning, by enhancing the effectiveness of learning.

On 15th October, I taught the topic ‘Making Music’ in class V and the subject is science, to teach this lesson first of all I sent a short video lesson and ask them to watch it and learn the names of the musical instruments used in the video . I also sent some pictures and ask them to draw the pictures and write their name. Next activity that I gave was, children has to identify the instrument and write what vibrates in them in the given table or column. And most of the children did it and they are taking part actively in online classes. There are few children in my class who are not able to participate in online classes but I have used other alternatives to teach them so that they are not deprive from learning.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have gained a swift momentum on teachers and students teaching learning process and has provided a significant research area for many scholars in and around the world.  ICT has significantly changed the face of education. Thus Bhutanese educational system has entered in the early phase of Information and Communication Technologies adoption. Really ICT has played a vital role at this time of pandemic, though we encountered some difficulties I learnt a lot and gained knowledge and confident in using ICT. Though it is not like face to face teaching that we used to do before this pandemic, but as a teacher I feel happy that at least children are learning something.
